Lead & Copper Requirements FAQ

What is the Lead and Copper Rule?
The Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) is a federal regulation aimed at reducing lead and copper levels in drinking water. It requires water utilities to monitor and control these contaminants to protect public health. RWU has been in 100 percent compliance with the original Lead and Copper Rule since its inception, and we continue to take protective measures to ensure we stay ahead of regulatory changes.
Why am I receiving this notice?
As part of an effort to ensure safe drinking water for all US citizens, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently revised the lead and copper rules to require all water utilities to determine if any of their service lines potentially contain lead. You may also be receiving a notice if your property was built prior to 1989 (when lead was banned on new construction) and your service line has not yet been inspected to verify the material.
Does my home contain lead service lines?

Rogers Water Utilities (RWU) is currently undertaking a process to verify service line material on properties built prior to the ban on lead plumbing. The service line inventory status can be found on our GIS Map above. Simply enter your address to see the inventory status for your location.  This map will be continuously updated as the service line inventory progresses.
